Students will examine recent genocides and decide if the on-going Conflict in the Sudan qualifies to be called a “genocide” based on the UN definition. Students must also examine the role the international community has played in recent genocides and analyze their involvement or lack thereof.

After the Holocaust, people were shocked by the atrocities committed against the Jewish people. The world made a promise: “Never Again”. Yet millions of people around the world have been killed or mistreated because of their race, ethnicity or religion.
- Why does this keep happening?
- At what point should other countries become involved (if at all)?
