Global Issues

Course Summary

Global Issues is a study of the major problems confronting the world today.  These issues are investigated using the perspectives of different cultures as a means of better understanding both the origins of, and potential solutions to, these problems.  The issues that may be addressed in this course are; the purpose and effectiveness of multinational organizations such as the United Nations and the World Trade Organization, human rights violations, genocide, terrorism, weapons of mass destruction, poverty, and the growing population.  Students will gain insights into the political, economic, social, religious, scientific and cultural events that have shaped humanity in the past as well as those current events shaping our world today.
