Post here:
-I think, the world is not getting smaller, the POPULATION is getting bigger. And it's a problem, because we can't really do anything to make our planet bigger, it's impossible, so, we should try to do something to solve the population problem. And the video proves us, that it's one of the greatest problems in the world now. I think, people just should realize, that if the situation won't change their grandchildren will life in the cruel world, where the main problem of their lives will be the strugle for the survival.
-Irina
-Brian C ---Obviously, the world isn’t literally getting smaller, however in the
since that our technologies and population are growing, the world is beginning to
look smaller and smaller. We are expanding and depleting all of our
resources and soon enough this world isn’t going to provide for us.
This video states many good points as well as exaggerating somewhat as well.
This video addresses issues concerning the entire world, therefore fitting into
the global issues category.
What points did you think were good? Which were exaggerated?
I agree with that statement because the world is getting smaller because the population is rising everyday and theres no control over it. Farmland is being used to build communities and we're losing valuable land. I liked this video because explains how we are heading into a disaster and some are overwhelming to believe. The video has to relate to global issues because population control is a problem all over the world and other environmental issues.
-Casey
What part of the video made you think that we are heading into disaster?
I think the world is getting smaller in a way but also staying the same size. The world is getting bigger in the sense that technology has basically taken over and more and more people are coming in. Also, the big farm lands we used to have when people were coming into the United States is becoming so small that we really don't have that much production anymore for valuable food growth. More and more cities are moving in and taking over the growth land. I kind of liked this video because it has a sense of what's going on in the world. It has to do with global issues because people are coming in from other countries and if something happens to one country then the rest have to have something to do with it too.
-Candice
Do you think technology has taken over or made the world smaller or both?
I agree with the statement that "the world is getting smaller" for two main reasons. The first is that the world's population is increasing at an exponential rate. There are obviously going to be problems with overpopulation and overcrowding in the near future, in turn increasing the possibility of food shortage and unemployment. The second reason has to do with the increased rate at which ideas, information, and products can be distributed across the planet. This is caused by different technologies and advancements such as the internet and air travel.
I think that this video gives an informative glimpse into how rapidly the world is changing. This video has a lot to do with global issues as the things depicted therin are problems/issues that the affect the entire world.
--Dane
Good answer. Is all this technology a good thing or a bad thing?
I do agree but i disagree at the same time. We are getting smaller by having better ways to communicate with other people in the world but the population its self is getting bigger. I believe that this is a good way of putting the world all into a smaller way of looking at life as a whole. some day we will be albe to just have a simple small way of looking at the world right now as every thing is changing but you never know what that my be technonogy has change so much over the years and now we have e-mail and can send things across the world in a matter of minutes. this has a lot of global issuse in it because this makes you think of the world possible coming to an end at some point in time. By the time this would happen we would no longer be around. People need to take better care of everything around them beacuse we only have so much of it to use.
-Ashley
I agree about technology and it's possibilities. Do you think students should be using more technology in school?
I do agree with that statement in a metaphorical way. The population is growing at a frightening rate, and nothing can be done about it. The natural resources that are depleting under our noses, will become even more scarce as our population keeps growing. Just in the last fifty years our world has evolved from farms and forests into big cities and highways. The more our population grows the bigger our cities get and the bigger our cities get, the more farm land gets destroyed for housing and stores. The video shows how the world is getting smaller. It describes how the world is advancing technologically to a place where we never thought we would ever reach. It also shows talks about how the populations uncontrollable rise.

What part of the video shows that the world is getting smaller?

I agree with the above statement. Mass communication has made the ability to exchange information worldwide with just the click of a button. Products and ideas have the potential to be accessed by a large percentage of the world population. People from different countries have the ability to converse and collaborate almost instantly. The internet is creating a worldwide community. This community is composed of people who would otherwise never have the oppurtunities to interact with one-another. Therefore, the physical length between these people is a moot point -- the world becomes a much smaller place. I thought this video was a great example of our "shifting" world. It put many things into perspective. For instance, the geometric population and the US's position in terms of education and potential ousting as the largest english-speaking nation. The video addresses the issues of population and impoverished nations. The populations of developing nations are growing despite the effort to stem them. This can lead to the spread of disease, starvation, and increased use of natural resources.
--Patrick
Do you think that the US should do more to help developing nations?

Yes I agree with this statement in a way the world is getting smaller. For a couple reasons one more and more people are being born every day and also people are just living longer due to new technologies in medicine. All of this new technology is both good and bad, it’s good because a lot of lives are saved but it’s also bad because the world more and more populated because of it. I liked the video because it hit on a lot of points that you don’t really think about and it gets you thinking. What this video has to do with global issues is that rapid population growth is a global problem there are a lot of counties that have population problems not just one. So it’s something that we all have to work on and worry about.

What parts of the video "got you thinking"?
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
I agree with the statement, "The world is getting smaller". The world is truly getting smaller, but not in the physical sense. Technology and the internet is rapidly uniting people of different cultures and beliefs together and is merging the lines between "reality and virtual reality". The advances in technogy are can be good to some and bad to others. People are learning more and are using up more and more resources everyday. This video displays many examples of how fast the world is advancing in technology and how small it is getting every second. Many of the things that are currently up to date, such as certain electronic items, will be out of date and there will be a new and improved model a few months from now. This is another example of the advancing technology in our world today. This video can apply to the whole world, everyone in it, and the issues that are going on. That is why this video is related global issues.
-Zak
Good answer. How can technology be bad for some?
Yes i Agree with the statement that the world is getting smaller. I agree with this becuase our popluation is getting out of control it seems and the amount of land needed to support all these extra people is disaperearing to houses and other developements. I think we'll have a big problem on our hands very soon when we need more land to support the hunger of the growing world. THe rain forest will be cut down and jungels will be cut down to make more farmable land, and in result we'll lose all those animals, and the world will be complete caos. Yes i liked the video becuase it showed a lot of things that are now happening to the world like the population boom. This video had alot to do with global issues. Like when it was talking about the world education and the worlds most populated country and how many people we'll have when and so on. To me everything this video mentioned was a very important fact we need to know if we are going to do somthing about our world crisis.
-collin-
Do you think the growing World Population will effect people in the U.S.?
I do agree to the statement "The World is Getting smaller". The human population is expanding. The human mind is a very powerful tool. Our world is too small for our kind. The viedo really explains things that we don't know about. It brings it to our attention, it let us know whats really happening that most dont have the knowledge of knowing. Things mentioned in the viedo are problems facing our world. Population expansion is something we need to take action today to prevent a problem in our future.
Janetta
What other problems are mentioned in the video? What could be done to slow population growth?
I agree with the statement"The World Is Getting Smaller" becuase it is very appropraite for this time period. The human race is exponentially expanding, and we have less and less space to work with. I think this video really digs at the issues no one wants to face, and confronts them in a unique way. Every issue that this video deals with is very current with what is going on globally in our world today.
- Nick K.
Which issues do you think are most problematic?
I do agree with the statement, "The World is Getting Smaller". In this day and age, we are not only neglecting the crisis at hand, but making it worse. Human expansion is a real threat. With the way we are living now, we're simply too big for the earth to hold. I enjoyed this article because it was dramatic and delivered the information clearly and concisely. This article has to do with global issues because human expansion is a current problem involving all of humanity.
- nicole
What is "the crisis at hand"? How are we making it worse?
I do and I don't agree, yes the world is getting smaller only because our population is getting bigger. If our population was the same as it was 100 years ago then no our world would not be getting smaller. I think the video shows and tells us exactly whats going on in the world right now on how much the worlds population has increased. And what is going to happen if it keeps growing like it is. This video has to do with global issues because global issues deal with human rights, global health, envrionment, terrorism and much more. And the video had to deal with global global health and the environment.
-Jessica-
Which part of the video discussed global health and the environment? (Give examples)
